Instructions of Border Control for Travellers upon Arrival, Departure, and Transit through the Country
This instruction has been prepared with regards to controlling all borders of the Islamic Republic of Iran as a response to managing Covid-19. In this regard, all travellers undergo health screening procedures including thermal scanning and checking other clinical symptoms upon arrival, departure, and transit through the country. All travellers will be also asked questions about the history of their recent visits to the highly affected countries. The result of the health check will be one of the followings:
This instruction will be shared with the health officials of the respected countries.
1. Iranian Nationals upon Arrival:
a) Any Iranian national with no symptoms such as high fever and upon having good general health will have no problems entering the country.
b) Any Iranian national with symptoms such as high fever will be checked by a pulse oximeter. In case their saturation level of oxygen is less than 93%, and upon the approval of the medical health officer onsite, they will be referred to a hospital or a medical centre for the detailed medical check.
2. Iranian Nationals upon Departure:
a) Any Iranian national with no symptoms such as high fever and upon having good general health will be given a health certificate to present to the airlines or the border control officers of the destination country.
b) Any Iranian national with symptoms such as high fever will be checked by a pulse oximeter. In case their saturation level of oxygen is less than 93%, they will not be allowed to leave the country. Instead, they will be referred to the selected medical centres.
3. Non-Iranian Nationals upon Arrival:
a) Any non-Iranian national with no symptoms such as high fever and upon having good general health will have no problems entering the country.
a) Any non-Iranian national with symptoms such as high fever and considering their history of travel to the affected countries will be checked by a pulse oximeter. In case their saturation level of oxygen is less than 93%, they will be returned to their country of origin. They will be required to present a health certificate for their next trip to Iran.
4. Non-Iranian Nationals upon Departure:
a) Any non-Iranian national with no symptoms such as high fever and upon having good general health will be given a health certificate.
b) Any non-Iranian national with symptoms such as high fever will be checked by a pulse oximeter. In case their saturation level of oxygen is less than 93%, they will not be allowed to leave the country. Instead, they will be immediately referred to the selected medical centres for the detailed medical check. In case of the traveller’s refusal, the border control officers, and the airline will be notified in order to take the required steps. Moreover, the border or airport officials will prepare a report to be signed by the traveller, their companion (if any), onsite medical centre and the airline’s officials.
